How DIY design robs you of time, money, & energy:

FILED IN: Design, Graphics, Mindset

time is money

We’ve all been there, bootstrapping some part of our business that we *know* needs to be outsourced eventually.
.

And there’s an ugly (no pun intended) trend of DIY graphics and templates making great sweeps across the internet.
.

The problem is NOT the software, the templates, or how much money you *think* you’re saving.
.

The problem is that you think it’s not costing you anything.
.

Truth: Your time is money.
.

And just because there are tools available to make it easy for every ‘shmo to have a nice looking website, it doesn’t mean it’s “cost-effective” – because there are hidden costs when you go it alone.
.

It’s easy to get sucked in, but here’s where it’s hurting your bottom line:
.

1 – You spent tons of time on your graphics. But are they really up to par? Is design your specialty or is this potentially something that could turn people away? How do you know, since you’re not a designer?
.

2 – You spend energy here designing graphics for *free*. How much of that energy could you put towards to get a client instead? Do you get sucked into the learning curve of figuring out new software, and now the day is gone?
.
3 – You spent brain power on new skills instead of doing what you already know. The mental capacity for new concepts and decision making is limited. How much time are you second-guessing your own color and font choices?
.

By the time you get to your *actual* work, your brain is kinda done.
.

And you can’t show up as your best for the things you’re great at.
.

You’re even a little resentful because everything took longer than you thought and you didn’t do the thing you started this business to do.
.

(Impact more people, change lives, help the world. You know, the life-changing work you’re so passionate about)
.

As appealing as it is to go the “cheaper” route? It IS costing you money, no matter how much you tell yourself otherwise.
.

So what do you do instead?

.

1. Find pre-made designs that are tailored to YOUR business.
.
Most templates out there are designed for global use, which means they don’t always work for you. Online business requires colors, fonts, logos AND templates for websites, pinterest, instagram and more.
.
There’s no one-stop-shop for this, until now. (Message me if you’re interested to hear more because I’ve got something in the works)
.

2. Don’t assume you can’t work with a designer and custom graphics.
.
You’d be surprised at how affordably you can hire someone to help you overhaul your brand in a few months. There are so many ways to start this process, it almost never equals $20,000 upfront (–> think more like $500 instead).

Ask around, find out information before you count yourself out.
.

If you want a custom quote, I do them all the time – free of charge! Just shoot me a message.
.

You don’t have to live like this. Let’s fix the DIY frustration and get you looking like a pro.
