Case Study: The Disgruntled Pelican Pub & Eatery
What better way to kick off the weekend than to share some delicious branded eye-candy with you?
(Schitt’s Creek fans, gather ’round)
Sometimes I design shit just for me. I stay inspired, you get to delight in my silliness, and we all enter the weekend with a dopamine uptick.
Win-win-win.
Without further ado:

The key to success in any brand is repetition.
Hot take: At the end of the day, it really doesn’t matter what this brand looks like. If you appear professional and cohesive? Share that shit everywhere over and over … and it works.
Let go of the narrative you have to BE a certain kind of brand. Be whatever the hell you want. The building blocks of a brand are simply:
Fonts
Colors
Image style
Logo family
These are the exact things that people will subconsciously recognize about your brand. Your style is driven by these pieces.
Rinse & Repeat.
For this particular project, the phrase alone gave me the idea of the classic, old, dark pub. I wanted a rugged, aged feel with a modern twist. Somewhere that’s comfortable and casual, but still classy.

With foundation blocks in place, now we can play!
A business today needs a website. No question.
Digital assets are the best investment of your marketing resources to get found and noticed online.
The website is where I have endless space to play with expanding the feel of the brand.
This takes all those warm, rustic colors and photo styles and mashes them all together in different ways that really bring the brand to life.
Successful branding is just like making a cake:
You gather ingredients, measure each separately, and you put them together in just the right way to create something delicious.
Aside from a website, I’d suggest a very similar visual style to any social media marketing and advertising.
Remember – repetition. People like to see the same thing over and over so they know they’re in the right place. If your website looks different than your online marketing, it feels like a mistake and it confuses the viewer.

Hands down, my favorite part…
I have a love-hate relationship with everything being digital today. I miss holding a piece of work in my hands.
This still makes sense though if you have an actual product.
Schitt fans, this one’s for you 🙂 Last but not least, a set of show-quote cans. Wouldn’t you totally buy a case of these at the store?

In a nutshell, that’s how successful branding is done…
There’s a few more brand kits available this month before prices go up.
Snag a spot and let’s rock your brand to this level. It’s your turn to take a selfish.
